"Traditional avenues of funding can be effective, but they aren’t necessarily designed to foster creativity or build community."

When the end goal is producing profit, that’s a very different goal than someone asking ‘do I feel an affinity for this idea, do I want to see it come to life?’ That’s the mentality behind the Kickstarter experience and it’s why you see such incredibly colourful and ambitious ideas with a real sense of creative freedom across the site.

On Kickstarter, creators keep creative control and ownership of their project. It’s more about offering backers an opportunity to join them on a journey. Launching a project can be intimidating. Once you launch, your dream is up there for the world to see. But gathering the courage to build the project can be invigorating and the process itself can add clarity to what you set out to accomplish.
